GUY AND MABEL NELSON GROSSING HOLSTIENS
18 X 24" OIL ON CANVAS, PRIVATE COLLECTION

This is the "Guy Nelson Farm located at the top of Irvine Run Road where it T's into the Samuelson Road... better known as the cross-over road connecting between Yankee Bush Road to the East and Brown Hill Road to the West. Painting was done in the late fall of 1968. Guy and Mabe would set up electric fencing in the field across the road so their milk cows could graze on the new grass after the hay was taken off in the late summer. Mabe would come out in the morning to help Guy drive their milkers across the road and into the barn at milking time. Mabe would stand in the middle of the road, holding two lengths of bailing twine, one in each hand which were attached to the fence posts at the sides of the road. Guy was born on this farm in the early 1900's. Guy and Mabe worked this farm every day for their entire lives. They were wonderful neighbors and we were privileged to have known them.
